Policies

  • Beginning Summer 2026, private lessons are held as scheduled and are not canceled or rescheduled.

If a student misses a private lesson, their teacher will provide a short personalized practice video or assignment so the student can stay engaged and continue making progress between lessons.

Group classes, choir rehearsals, camps, and semi-private lessons are not eligible for makeup classes or substitute videos if missed.

    Health & Illness Policy

To help protect our staff and fellow students, please keep your child home if they are experiencing fever, vomiting, or other signs of contagious illness. Thank you for helping keep our community healthy.

    Refund Policy for Private Lessons

Private lesson tuition reserves a recurring weekly timeslot for the full semester and is therefore non-refundable once the term begins.

Families who withdraw before the first lesson may receive a full refund minus any registration or processing fees.

In cases of serious illness, family emergency, or relocation, Magnolia may offer a prorated credit toward a future term at our discretion.

  • Attendance & Makeups
Because group programs involve shared activities and team progress, missed sessions cannot be made up or refunded. Materials (lyrics, recordings, etc.) may be shared to help students stay on track.
If a class is ever canceled by the teacher, a rescheduled session or bonus class will be offered when possible.

    Refund Policy for Group Programs

For choir: families may attend the first rehearsal and request a full refund if it isn’t the right fit.

For small-group classes (Guitar, Ukulele, Mixed Jam, Songwriting): families may attend the first class and, if they decide not to continue, receive a 50% refund for the remaining weeks.

After the second class has occurred, all tuition is non-refundable, as your child’s spot is reserved for the full session.

  • Attendance

Because camps are short, immersive programs with limited enrollment, missed camp days cannot be made up or refunded. If your child needs to miss a day, we’ll do our best to help them rejoin the group smoothly when they return.

In the rare event that Magnolia needs to cancel a camp day due to illness or emergency, we will make every effort to provide a substitute teacher or comparable solution.

    Refund Policy for Camps

Camp enrollment reserves a full-week spot for your child, and staffing and materials are planned accordingly.

    • Cancellations made 14 or more days before the start of camp are eligible for a full refund, minus a $50 administrative fee.

    • Cancellations made 7–13 days before camp are eligible for a 50% refund.

    • Cancellations made fewer than 7 days before camp, or after camp has begun, are non-refundable.

If a serious illness or family emergency arises, please reach out — while refunds aren’t guaranteed, we’ll always try to respond with care and flexibility when possible.

    Transfers

If space allows, families may request to transfer to a different camp week prior to the start of camp. Transfers are not guaranteed and depend on availability.

    Extended Care

Extended care fees are non-refundable once camp has begun, as staffing is scheduled in advance.

  • To help keep things organized, all scheduling and administrative questions should go through Kat. This allows our teachers to stay focused on teaching and ensures consistent communication.
You can always reach Kat at kat@magnoliamusicschool.com with any questions about lessons, scheduling, or billing.

  • For student safety, children should remain inside Magnolia Music School until a parent, guardian, or authorized adult arrives for pickup, unless a family has explicitly arranged independent dismissal in advance.

Families are responsible for timely pickup at the end of lessons and classes. Teachers may be teaching back-to-back lessons and are not able to provide extended supervision beyond scheduled lesson times.

If a parent is running late, we appreciate communication whenever possible.

  • At Magnolia Music School, we create music together—and that means showing up for each other with care, focus, and respect. We want every student to feel supported and able to grow.

We know that being silly and having fun are part of being a kid, but during class time, our main goal is to learn and make music together. When a student is consistently disruptive, it can affect the experience for everyone.

To help keep things positive and productive, we ask all students to follow these expectations:

    • Stay Engaged: Please give your full attention during warm-ups, group work, and activities.

    • Be Kind: Treat classmates, teachers, and assistants with respect and encouragement.

    • Participate Fully: Try your best, take creative risks, and be open to learning something new.

If a student is repeatedly disruptive after reminders and redirection, Magnolia Music School reserves the right to withdraw them from the program for the remainder of the session. We know kids are always growing, and we’d be happy to welcome them back when they’re ready to participate more fully.

If a student is asked to leave a program for behavioral or safety reasons, we’ll work with families to determine an appropriate refund for the unused portion of the program. Any refund issued will be based on remaining sessions or days and will not include administrative or materials fees.

  • For guitar and ukulele students, short fingernails on the “fretting” (left for most) hand are essential — it’s impossible to press the strings correctly or make clear notes with long nails.

Please make sure your child’s left-hand nails are trimmed before each lesson or class. (strumming-hand nails can be a little longer if desired.) This may seem like a small detail, but it makes a huge difference in comfort, sound quality, and progress!
