Magnolia Youth Choir

About Magnolia Youth Choir

Join our warm, welcoming community of young singers!

Magnolia Youth Choir (MYC) is a fun, welcoming community where young singers learn to use their voices with confidence and joy. Through playful warm-ups, rounds, and modern songs kids actually love (think Taylor Swift, The Beatles, Rihanna, and Big Thief), we build musical skills naturally — by ear, through movement, and in community. No prior experience or sheet music reading required.

Rehearsals focus on:

  • Healthy vocal foundations + harmony-building

  • Listening, blending, and expressive performance

  • Movement + rhythm games

  • Optional solos and small ensemble moments

Our teen assistants help model joy, confidence, and connection in every class.

Spring semester runs mid-January through late April, with a community concert on Saturday, April 25 (afternoon).

Currently enrolling: Skylarks Choir (Ages 13-16)

Registration is open through March 1.

Skylarks is an audition-only ensemble for experienced teen singers who are ready for deeper harmony work, musicianship, and performance.

  • A joyful first choir experience where young singers learn to match pitch, explore their voices, and sing together with confidence.

Each week includes playful warm-ups, rhythm games, and short songs that help kids internalize melody, pulse, and harmony in a fun, low-pressure way.

Tuesdays 5:10–6:00 PM with Sara Jayne McDonald
Wednesdays 5:10–6:00 PM with Kat White
Dates: Dates: Jan 12–Apr 23 (13 rehearsals, no class Feb 17–18 or Apr 7–8)
All Warblers perform in our Spring Concert on April 25 at 4:00 PM.
    Tuition: $435

  • A vibrant, expressive ensemble for older singers ready to explore harmony and deeper vocal development in a supportive group setting.

No audition is required, but singers should be able to generally hold a tune and bring enthusiasm for learning and singing together.

Rehearsals include part-singing, vocal technique, and creative interpretation of songs kids truly love — with chances for solos and small ensemble moments.

Wednesdays 6:30–7:45 PM with Kat White
Dates: Jan 14–Apr 22 (13 rehearsals, no class Feb 18 or Apr 8)
All Nightingales perform in our Spring Concert on April 25 at 4:00 PM.
    Tuition: $585

  • Audition-only teen ensemble for experienced singers ready to take their musicianship to the next level. We explore blend, harmony, and stage presence through folk-pop and indie repertoire (Phoebe Bridgers, Big Thief, Lucius, etc.) in an intimate, collaborative group.

Skylarks is for singers who can stay on a harmony line while another part is happening (with group support — they don’t need to sing alone on their part).

Fridays 6:15–7:30 PM with Kat White
Dates: Mar 6–Apr 24 (7 classes, no class Apr 10)
    Tuition: $340
    Class size: 5–10 singers

    Audition format:

    • Harmony part to “Can’t Help Falling in Love” (we’ll send a learning track)

    • Verse + chorus of a favorite song, a cappella

If full tuition would prevent your child from joining, please email us privately at kat@magnoliamusicschool.com to inquire about sliding-scale availability.

Sibling Discount: $40 off each additional sibling.

If your child attends the first one or two rehearsals and decides choir isn’t the right fit, let us know by the end of week two for a full refund.
